"Who's the Daddy?"

You can bet that any conversation in the clubhouse after a match will eventually end up with "Yes, our first team are okay, but they're not as good as the 25th XI who are banging in 8 goals a game against The Dog And Duck (Veterans) Team."

Ladies 3rd XI

So in order to settle these arguments once and for all, we uses a complex system of points allocations and deductions to rank each team relative to the standard they are currently playing.

Previous Winners:

2009/10      Ladies 3rd XI
2008/09      Men's 2nd XI

How it works...

As we’ve got no imagination of our own, we thought we’d steal such a good idea (Thanks Woking!) and started running it from the beginning of the 2000/2001 season. If anyone can remember all the winners from the last 9 years please let us know and we can add them to the list above for bragging rights at the bar!

Providing the results are entered on the website correctly, the table above does not lie!  The scoring system is as follows:

  • 4 points for a win
  • 2 points for a score draw
  • 1 point for a no score draw
  • 1 point for every 3 goals in a game
  • 1 point for a clean sheet

Penalty shoot-outs are not taken into account; the score after 70 minutes stands. The points are then totaled and divided by the number of games played to give an average per game.

Where teams’ average scores are level, then the team with the most points will have the higher placing. If teams are still tied, then total goals scored will decide placings. If teams are still tied, then the number of clean sheets will decide placings.
