Training Sessions

Southampton Hockey Club runs training sessions four times a week on the astroturf pitches at Southampton Sports Centre, click here for directions.

If you are looking to join us then the best training session to attend is Tuesday night which is designed to cater for all members of the club.

Tuesday training sessions are for fitness, goalkeeper training and Men’s and Ladies Senior Squads designed for all club members to train and enjoy; Thursday evenings see specialist training sessions for the senior teams, and tactical training for other club teams; and Sundays are for minis.

The training timetable is as follows:

Please arrive 15 minutes early so that you are ready to begin training at the times set out below:

Tuesdays

  • 6.00-7.00 Junior Goalkeepers
  • 6.00-7.30 Juniors (ages 8 to 14 mixed)
  • 7.00-8.00 Senior Goalkeepers
  • 6.45-7.30 Club Fitness
  • 7.30-9.00 Men’s and Ladies Senior Squads and club members

Thursdays

  • 6.00-7.30 U16 and U18 Training (girls and boys)
  • 7.30-9.00 Ladies Senior Squad (by invite)
  • 7.30-9.00 Ladies and Men’s Tactical Training

Sundays

  • 9.00am-10.30am Junior Training Aged 5 to 14 (girls and boys)

To train you will require trainers, suitable sports clothing and have wet weather gear available when necessary.

It is highly recommended that you wear shin guards and a gumshield at all times and that you have plenty of drinks available.
